Corrosion is one of the most destructive forces in the automotive world. The combination of winter and road salt is what causes most rust damage on cars, trucks and SUVs. Preventing corrosion damage is crucial for owners to get the most out of their vehicle. Barrie Nissan offers a corrosion protection package that utilizes cutting-edge technology to prevent corrosion and rust from forming, thereby avoiding potentially hazardous issues. Follow along with us while we take a closer look at this innovative way to protect your safety and your vehicle’s value.
How Does Corrosion Protection Work?
Electronic Corrosion Control Module
When a Barrie Nissan customer chooses to have an Electronic Corrosion Control Module (ECCM) installed, the unit is wired to the vehicle’s battery to draw DC current. The electricity is distributed across the metal body panels. ECCM works by inducing a negative charge on the metal surfaces to negate the positive charge that occurs when moisture and salt combine to form rust.
Owners choose to have an ECCM installed because:
- It offers effective rust and corrosion protection
- It’s made in Canada
- No potentially dangerous chemicals are introduced
- Pairs well with other available warranty protections
On-Going Maintenance
While an ECCM uses chemistry and physics to prevent rust damage, regular maintenance is still needed to prevent rust. This includes washing salt and road grit off your car, truck, or SUV as often as possible.
Barrie Nissan wants to ensure everyone gets the most out of the car, truck or SUV they take home from our dealership. Make an appointment with our team if there is something we can do to help you protect your vehicle from damage.
